Make a flavorful, cheesy Italian herb bread right in your bread machine. This recipe is simple and produces a great sandwich loaf or dinner side.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Add the warm water, olive oil, and salt to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine’s manual.
  2. Add the bread flour, sugar, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder on top of the liquid ingredients. Create a small well in the flour.
  3. Place the yeast into the well you created in the flour. Do not let the yeast touch the liquid yet.
  4. Select the Basic or White Bread cycle on your machine. Choose a medium or dark crust setting.
  5. Allow the machine to complete the initial mixing and kneading phase.
  6. When the machine signals the end of the kneading cycle (usually before the first rise), open the lid.
  7. Quickly add the Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese to the dough. Close the lid immediately.
  8. Let the machine complete the full baking cycle.
  9. Once the cycle finishes, carefully remove the bread pan and turn the loaf out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For the best texture, let the loaf cool for at least one hour before slicing. This prevents a gummy interior.
  • If your machine has a delay timer, do not use it for this recipe, as the cheese can spoil.
  • This cheesy dinner bread slices well for sandwiches the next day.
