Prepare a complete, flavorful dinner on one sheet pan using chicken breasts and fresh asparagus coated in a simple honey balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, honey, olive oil, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to create the glaze.
  3. Place the cut chicken pieces in a medium bowl. Pour half of the honey balsamic glaze over the chicken and toss to coat evenly. Let it marinate while you prepare the vegetables.
  4. Place the trimmed asparagus on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Drizzle the remaining half of the glaze over the asparagus and toss gently on the pan to coat.
  5. Arrange the glazed chicken pieces among the asparagus on the sheet pan, ensuring everything is in a single layer for even cooking.
  6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the asparagus is tender-crisp.
  7. Remove from the oven and serve immediately directly from the pan.

Notes

  • If your chicken pieces are thick, you may need to add 3 to 5 minutes to the total cooking time.
  • You can substitute broccoli florets or green beans for the asparagus if desired.
  • For extra flavor, you can sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes into the glaze mixture.
