Enjoy a delightful mash-up of rich brownies and sweet pecan pie. This recipe brings together the best of both worlds for a truly decadent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Spread half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  8. Spoon the pecan pie mixture evenly over the brownie batter in the pan.
  9. Dollop the remaining brownie batter over the pecan pie mixture. Gently spread it to cover as much of the pecan mixture as possible.
  10. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  11. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For an extra gooey center, reduce the baking time slightly and check for doneness with a toothpick.
  • You can toast the pecans before chopping them for a deeper flavor.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat.
