Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for light coating)
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top of the foil.
In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Lightly dust the seasoned wings with the flour, shaking off any excess. Place the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack.
Bake for 25 minutes.
While the wings bake, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
After the initial 25 minutes of baking, remove the wings from the oven. Brush half of the prepared honey garlic sauce evenly over all the wings.
Return the wings to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes.
Increase the oven temperature to broil (High setting). Brush the remaining sauce over the wings. Broil for 2 to 4 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning, until the glaze is bubbly and sticky.
Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispy skin before saucing, bake the wings for 30 minutes, then increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) and bake for another 10 minutes before applying the first layer of sauce.
If you do not have apple cider vinegar, white vinegar works as a substitute.
Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer less salt in your final dish.
