Ingredients
Scale
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 (14.5 ounce) cans cut green beans, drained
1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 1.5-quart baking dish. Give yourself a pat on the back for getting started!
In a medium bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth. You are doing great!
Add the drained green beans and 2/3 cup of the crispy fried onions to the soup mixture. Gently fold everything together until the beans are evenly coated.
Spread the bean mixture into your prepared baking dish.
Bake for 25 minutes. This is a perfect time to put on some music!
Remove the casserole from the oven. Sprinkle the remaining 2/3 cup of crispy fried onions evenly over the top.
Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Take it out and admire your work! Let it cool for a few minutes before serving this easy vegetable side dish.
Notes
You can assemble this entire dish ahead of time and keep it covered in the refrigerator for up to one day. Add the final layer of onions and bake when ready to serve.
For a Southern green bean casserole variation, add 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese to the bean mixture before baking.
If you prefer homemade green bean casserole, you can substitute the canned soup with a homemade mushroom sauce.
