Ingredients
Scale
3 medium green (unripe) bananas
1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
Peel the green bananas and slice them thinly, aiming for about 1/8 inch thickness. Uniform slices help them crisp evenly.
In a medium bowl, toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil until lightly coated.
In a separate small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon together.
Lightly dust the oiled banana slices with the cinnamon sugar mixture, shaking off any excess.
Preheat your air fryer to 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius).
Arrange the coated banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 10 to 14 minutes, shaking the basket gently every 5 minutes.
Check the chips around the 10-minute mark. They are done when they look dry and feel firm. If they are not crisp, continue cooking in 2-minute increments.
Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.
Notes
Use green or slightly underripe bananas; ripe bananas will brown too quickly and become soft rather than crispy.
For extra crispiness, you can lightly blot the oiled slices with a paper towel before coating them with sugar.
If you prefer a less sweet chip, reduce the sugar to 1.5 tablespoons.
